Dear Beddington Heights Families,

I hope all your students had a great time participating in the Terry Fox Run on Friday and learning about Terry’s inspiring story throughout the week. The Beddington Heights fundraising link will stay open for the rest of the month to support cancer research and help us reach our $1200 goal (so we can see some ice buckets dumped over our staff members' heads!). A huge thank you to Mrs. Young, Mrs. Sterne, Ms. Baker, and Mrs. Anderson for their incredible work in organizing this event for our school community.

I have a few additional items to share with you:

Walking Field Trip Forms

Please review the attached Walking Field Trip Form , which details some of the trips our classes take in and around the community, as well as the potential risks involved.

Book Fair

Mark your calendars as the fun and excitement of a Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! We look forward to students enjoying the School book fair during the week of September 23-26. We would like to also welcome parents to visit our book fair at Meet the Teacher night on September 26, 2024 from 6:00-7:00pm!

Students will have two chances to visit the book fair during the week. The first visit will be to make a wish list and the second will be to buy something. The book fair has a variety of Items and students can get something for as little as a dollar or two. Profits from the book fair is then used to buy new books for our school. I do recommend students making their purchases during their second visit if possible as we are expecting a high turnout for Meet the teacher night and we are not open very long, so any purchases that can be made in advance are a bonus.

Morning Drop Off

Supervision at our school begins at 7:45 am. Please aim to have students arrive by 7:50 am so they can enter with their class when the transition bell rings at 7:58 am. If you plan to arrive right at 8:00 am, students will likely end up being late, which can disrupt the start of their day and affect both them and their classmates.

Additionally, please make sure to use the crosswalks and set a good example for our students by practicing safe behavior. Not following these safety guidelines increases the risk of someone getting seriously injured on their way to school. These are all our children, and we want them to arrive and leave school safely.

Dress for the Weather

Please ensure that students are dressed appropriately for the weather. We only bring students inside early or hold indoor recess when the temperature drops below -20°C. This means students should be prepared to go outside in all other conditions, including rainy days.

If you have any questions or need assistance as we begin the school year, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office at 403-777-6610.

Take care,

Steve Ross

Principal, Beddington Heights School
