Hello Beddington Heights School parents and guardians,
I hope you and your children had a wonderful summer and were able to spend some time together doing what brings you joy. We are so excited to welcome students and families back and are preparing for a joyous year of learning!
First Day!
The first day of school is Monday, August 31, 2026. Teachers will be available to meet students beginning at 7:45am and school begins at 8am. Students will gather and meet their teacher as outlined on this map.
Kindergarten students have a staggered entry. Please refer to the email from Ms. Kayleigh Wells, our Kindergarten teacher, or call the office.
Teacher Emails
Today you will receive an email from your child’s teacher outlining first day information and welcoming you and your child into the classroom community. If you did not receive an email, please contact our school office. All contact information is available here: https://beddingtonheights.cbe.ab.ca
If your child would benefit from seeing their classroom or meeting their teacher prior to the first day, please stop by at 10am tomorrow. Our teachers will be available to say hello and show you the classroom. We kindly ask that you end your visit prior to 10:30.
Staffing Updates
Jacqueline Porras Verwaayen is on maternity leave. We are fortunate to have Sandra Levesconte to welcome students into Room 11 and teach in partnership with the grade 6 team for September.
Ms. Brittany Connell is on medical leave. We are fortunate to have Raavi Dhir to welcome students into Room 16 and teach in partnership with the grade 3 team for September.
This summer, the CBE has hired hundreds of teachers, education assistants and other school staff to support student learning. These positions have been funded by the Government of Alberta with the intention of addressing classroom complexity and class sizes.
We are pleased to share the additional positions for our school for the 2026-27 school year:
Richelle Watson – Classroom complexity teacher
Adele Bergen – Educational Assistant
Eva Daud – Educational Assistant
This additional staff will help ensure students benefit from:
- Increased teacher attention
- Improved classroom learning environments
- Greater support for diverse learning needs
Reminders for a safe and happy back to school experience
In the coming days, please help your child get back into the school routine by establishing a bedtime that supports on-time arrival at school, evening/ morning routines for picking out clothes, preparing lunch, and having breakfast.
Here is some helpful information for back to school from our partners at AHS.
Please be reminded that all students should have a water bottle and that students should bring water as their drink for the day.
Hug and Go Zones / Bus Zones
Please note that Bermuda Drive and Bermuda Road on the school side of the streets are “Hug and Go” zones from the lamppost (marked with a Hug and Go sign) around the corner and up to the bus zone. If you would like to stay and watch your child until they enter the school, please park somewhere outside of this zone to allow other families to quickly and safely drop their children off for school. A visual of the “Hug and Go” zone can be found on the Parking & Drop-Off page of our website.
Please do not use the bus lane for morning drop off as this impacts our ability to unload busses safely and efficiently.
Ongoing communication
You will receive a weekly email from myself and your child’s teacher on Fridays. We will do our utmost to attempt to share as much information as possible through these emails.
