 Thank you so much to all the families that came to our Meet the Teacher event yesterday evening. I had so many lovely conversations with families and hope that you were all able to connect with your child’s teacher. Please reach out at any time to me or your child’s teacher to ask for clarification about something or discuss your child’s learning needs.

 Annual Forms

Thank you to parents who have completed their annual forms. As a school, we are at about 65% complete. If you haven't already, please help us out by completing the following required forms that are also available through the SchoolEngage tab in your MyCBE account:

  • Demographic Verification - 2026-27
  • Citizenship Information Update - 2026-27 (only if there has been a citizenship change)
  • Annual Authorization - 2026-27

 Orange Shirt Day & TRC Day

On September 29, BHS staff and students will recognize Orange Shirt Day. If your child has an orange shirt, please encourage them to participate by wearing it. Participating in Orange Shirt Day events helps students to learn the history of the residential school system in Canada and the individual, family, and intergenerational impacts that it had. Talking about Canadian history is part of the Alberta Social Studies curriculum and schools engage in this teaching and learning in age-appropriate ways. September 30 is National Truth and Reconciliation Day and there is no school. See this resource for events happening around Calgary.

 Staff PD

Today, our staff were treated to a presentation by Dr. Yvonne Poitras-Pratt, a Metis educator, scholar, and knowledge keeper. Yvonne challenged our staff to learn the history of the Metis people and make room for Metis voices and stories within the classroom. Thank you to Yvonne for being so generous with her time!
