Dear Beddington Heights Families,

Terry Fox Run

Beddington Heights School is once again taking part in the annual Terry Fox Run. It will occur on Friday, September 19, 2025 during school hours.  Please support our school's fundraising efforts to raise much-needed funds for cancer research.  You can donate though the Beddington Heights fundraising link:

https://schools.terryfox.ca/BeddingtonHeights

While we strongly encourage online donations, we will except any cash donations.  Our goal this year is to raise $1000.00!   If we meet our goal, Mr. Lancee and Mr. Quigley will dress up in silly costumes for a day and Mr. Ross will have a bucket of ice water dumped on his head.

Please help us to reach our goal!

Family Pizza Night | This Thursday, September 18

Order from Domino's in Hunterhorn this Thursday for Family Pizza Night! 20% of all proceeds from online and phone orders (when using the coupon code RAISE20) will go towards supporting Beddington Heights families in need next Christmas. Treat your family to pizza and help make a difference for BHS families! Flyers for discounts will come home with students this week! See here for more information.

Koko’sinooniks | Free Children’s Afterschool Program

Beddington Heights School is excited to host the City of Calgary’s Koko’sinooniks Afterschool Program every Monday and Wednesday beginning September 22. Space in the program is limited, and students will be selected from those who complete registration forms, with priority given to Indigenous students. If you would like a registration form, please reply to this email and we will send one home with your child, or you may pick one up directly from the office. For more details, please click here

Action required | Complete Online Forms by Sept. 15

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians / independent students are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. For families who have not yet completed these annual forms, please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, Sept. 15. These forms are required every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding. We recognize certain families have already completed Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms for their children for the 2025-26 school year and we thank you for taking time to submit them.

Details of the online forms found in SchoolEngage include:

Demographic Verification - 2025-26 – This required form is an Alberta Education requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.

Citizenship Information Update - 2025-26 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.

Annual Authorization - 2025-26 – Combines the following forms:

  • School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
  • Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
  • Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc.

If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help, refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

  1. sign in to your MyCBE account
  2. click on the SchoolEngage icon
  3. select the form
  4. complete or review and update the form
  5. click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
  6. repeat steps 3-5 for each form

Trips Within Walking Distance

The CBE does not require parents to fill out a consent form for children to go on a class trip that is walking distance from the school and where:

  • walking is the sole method of transportation, and
  • so long as the students will not be participating in a restricted activity as part of the trip.

This will allow teachers to take advantage of places close to the school such as West Nose Creek Park/ Split Rock.

Please read the Trips within Walking Distance Letter

If you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office at 403-777-6610.

Rethink the Drink

At Beddington Heights School, we are encouraging all students to bring water only as their drink for the school day. Choosing water supports healthy nutrition, helps with focus and self-regulation in the classroom, and keeps our school spaces cleaner and easier to maintain. Thank you for partnering with us in building healthy habits that set students up for success

Support Beddington Heights School with Mabel’s Labels! | Message from Parent Council

Perfect for keeping items out of the lost and found! The best part: 20% of every order comes back to Beddington Heights School, with no exclusions (yes, even sale items count!).

To participate, simply click here: Mabel’s Labels – Beddington Heights School Fundraiser and select Beddington Heights School.

Fun Lunch | McDonald’s

On September 25 we will have our first Fun Lunch of the school year from McDonalds. You can order a Fun Lunch for your child at healthyhunger.ca. Thank you for your support!

Popcorn Sales | Healthy Hunger starting September 18

Again this year, the Parent Council will be selling popcorn for students which will be distributed each Thursday. All proceeds will support BHS families in need during the Winter Break/Christmas season. Popcorn orders will be made through Healthy Hunger, so students won’t need to bring money to school. Families can also pre-order for multiple weeks if they prefer.

To order, please visit HealthyHunger.ca. The ordering deadline each week is the Saturday before each Thursday.

Book Fair | Volunteers Needed

We have our first Book Fair coming up the week of September 22, and are looking for volunteers. If you are on our security cleared volunteer list, please look for an email from our volunteer coordinator if you are able to help out!

Valuables at School

Families, we kindly ask that students not bring valuables to school. Items such as electronics, jewelry, or special keepsakes can easily be misplaced, lost, taken, or broken. Please note the school cannot assume responsibility for these items.
