Dear Beddington Heights Families,

We had an incredible week at BHS as we welcomed the CGY Classroom Crew from the Flames Foundation, who led an engaging Flag Football program for our students. Everyone had the chance to build new physical literacy skills, and hopefully discovered a new passion for a fun and healthy activity along the way!

We have a busy week ahead that includes Spring Photos (tomorrow), Book Fair, Volunteer Tea, Vaccinations (on Wednesday for those families who have given consent) and our Grades 1/3/4/6 Celebration of Learning. Please see the bottom of this message for more details!

I have a one additional notice this week:

Support Staff and Teacher Appreciation Weeks

With Support Staff Appreciation Week (April 22–28) wrapping up, and Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5–9) just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to celebrate the incredible team at Beddington Heights School.

As shared on our social media, if you’d like to recognize one (or many) of our amazing staff members, we invite you to share a message or story of appreciation using link.

Our staff are truly valued and loved, and a kind word can go a long way in making someone’s day!

If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office at 403-777-6610.

Take care,

Steve Ross

Volunteers

New this year, the cost of Police Information Checks is being covered for those requiring it. Please visit this link to learn more about how to volunteer with BHS this year!

Fun Lunch | The Saucy Bread Company (Deadline to order is May 17)

You can order a Fun Lunch for your child at healthyhunger.ca. This upcoming month we were able to provide nine students with a Fun Lunch who do not typically receive one due to generous donations of Beddington Heights families! Thank you for your support!

Popcorn Sales

This year, Parent Council will be selling popcorn for students every Thursday. All proceeds will support BHS families in need during the Winter Break/Christmas season. New this year, popcorn orders will be made through Healthy Hunger, so students won’t need to bring money to school. Families can also pre-order for multiple weeks if they prefer.

To order, please visit HealthyHunger.ca. The ordering deadline each week is the Saturday before each Thursday.

Nations Visions | Free Vision Screening May 20-30

Nations Visions will be on site providing free vision screening for all students whose parents provided consent to be checked. Your child will be coming home with consent forms in the near future. Please contact the office if you have any questions.  Consent and information forms are available at the office, or you can contact the school and we will have another one sent home with your child.

Parent Council Fundraiser | Growing Smiles

We are excited to announce our upcoming Spring Fundraiser with Growing Smiles. Enhance your garden while helping our students bloom! You can place orders from now until May 8 by clicking HERE. Order pick up will be on Friday, May 23* at Beddington Heights School

*Please note a same-day message will be sent to all who place orders notifying them when orders are ready to be picked up

Owl’s Nest Book Fair coming to BHS | April 28- May 2, 2025

BHS students will visit the Owl’s Nest Book Fair twice during the week. Their first visit will give them a chance to explore the fair and create a personal wish list. During their second visit, they’ll have the opportunity to purchase any books they’re interested in.

The book fair will also be open in the evening during the Grade 1/3/4/6 Celebration of Learning. Please note: this evening is usually quite busy!

Owl’s Nest Books offers titles for all ages. You can browse their collection or place an order in advance by visiting their website: https://owlsnestbooks.com. They offer free delivery within the city. If you do order online, please use the promo code BEDDINGTON—a portion of those proceeds will still support our school.

Thanks to the generosity of our school community during past book fairs, we’ve been able to replace worn-out favourites, purchase new curriculum and Indigenous resources, and add exciting new reads for students to enjoy. The proceeds from the book fair have a direct and meaningful impact on our classrooms, and we’re grateful for your continued support.

Lastly, we’re still in need of one more volunteer to help with the Owl’s Nest Book Fair. If you’re interested in filling that spot, please reach out using the link below.

Volunteer Tea

Invitations will be sent home with students for all families who have volunteered at the school this year. We’re excited to be hosting a special Volunteer Appreciation event just before the Grade 1, 3, 4, and 6 Celebration of Learning performance on May 1st at 12:30 p.m.

If you’ve volunteered this year but haven’t received your invitation by April 29th, please don’t hesitate to contact the school, we’ll be happy to make sure another one gets sent to you!

Grade 1/3/4/6 Celebration of Learning | May 1st

We’re excited for half of our students to showcase their learning with both the school and parent community on Thursday, May 1st. There will be two performances: one in the afternoon at 1:15 p.m. and another in the evening at 6:00 p.m.

Families and friends are warmly invited to attend either or both performances to celebrate the incredible work our students have been doing. We look forward to seeing you there!
