Year End Message | Mr. Ross

As we come to the end of another school year, I want to take a moment to share my deep gratitude and reflection as I wrap up my fourth and final year at Beddington Heights School.

 It has truly been an honour to serve this community. Over these four years, I have seen firsthand what makes Beddington Heights so special. Students who show up each day ready to learn, staff who go above and beyond, and families who care deeply about their children and this school. 

Together, we have taken on meaningful work and important shifts in how we support students. We built and launched Level-Up Literacy, strengthening our focus on early reading and foundational skills. We created space for student voice and curiosity through Follow Your Passion. As a community, we addressed safety concerns and significantly reduced unsafe driving behaviour in our school zone. We sharpened our shared understanding of the importance of regular attendance and being on time. We put a spotlight on the harms of screen time and social media. We also supported students in learning how to manage discomfort, build resilience, and stay engaged throughout the school day.

 None of this work happened in easy conditions. Over my four years we navigated two job actions, a seemingly never-ending gym floor replacement, and many other challenges along the way. Through it all, this community leaned in, adapted, and continued to put students first. That is something to be incredibly proud of.

 As I step away, I do so knowing that Beddington Heights is a strong, thoughtful, and caring learning community. The foundation we have built together will continue to support students for years to come. I want to sincerely thank families for the many kind cards, thoughtful gifts, and well wishes. Your generosity and support have meant a great deal to me.

 Beddington Heights will always hold a special place in my heart as my first principalship and as a community that has shaped me as a leader. I am grateful for the time we have shared.

 Year End Message | Ms. Clancy – 2026-27 Principal of BHS

 Happy Summer! The end of a school year is a time of celebration about the growth and accomplishments that your children have had over the past year.  Along with Mr. Ross, I congratulate all the BHS students for their successful year and wish you all a healthy and happy summer.

 I am excited to begin my role as principal of BHS. It has been wonderful meeting a few members of the community at the kindergarten and The Class orientations. I was also able to visit many classrooms recently and received a lot of great advice and welcoming messages from students and staff.

 Please see the important Back-to-School information below. If you are not returning to BHS next year, we wish you the best of luck at your new school!  To those of you who are returning or coming to us for the first time, we will see you August 31!

 Communication over the Summer

Our staff will begin responding to emails on August 26. For urgent matters, please email me at cleevans@cbe.ab.ca and include “URGENT” in the subject line and I will endeavor to respond within 72 hours.

 First Day of School Information

All Grades 1-6 students begin on Monday, August 31 at 8:00am, with doors opening at 7:58. 

 Teachers will call all families by 3pm on Thursday, August 27 with homeroom information for every student. If your child would benefit from an early welcome to the school year, please let me know and we can arrange for your child to meet their teacher and see their classroom on August 28.

 Kindergarten students will ease into the school year with staggered entry on August 31 and September 1. If you have a Kindergarten student next year, you should have already received this information. If you have not, please contact Mrs. Cumming at clcumming@cbe.ab.ca.

 Volunteering at the School and on Field Trips   

We love and depend on volunteers for school events and field trips.  All volunteers who work with students must have a security clearance through CPS.  Please consider beginning your volunteer process over the summer so that you are able to get started in the fall.  You can read more about the steps involved with getting volunteer clearance  here .

 Report Cards

The June report card reflects the summative achievement of each student through the final months – February through to the end of June for this school year.  These will be available online in your MyCBE PowerSchool account from June 25 until July 31, 2026.

If you have questions or concerns about your child’s report card, please contact your child’s teacher by email or by phone, by noon on June 29.

BHS Community Garden | Summer help wanted!

 We are looking to round up some help to care for our school garden space over the course of the summer. If you are around and willing to help out for a short shift, please sign up for a shift on the attached form. Details for those who sign up will be shared soon.
