Dear Families,

Thank you to all families who attended Parent-Teacher Interviews this past week. Your time, partnership, and commitment to supporting student learning are truly appreciated and make a meaningful difference for our students.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to our Parent Council for generously providing dinner for our staff on Thursday. Your support and kindness are greatly valued and help strengthen our school community.

Winter Celebration of Learning | Grades Kindergarten, 1, 4, & 6

We’re excited for half of our students to showcase their learning with both the school and parent community on Thursday, December 4! There will be two performances: one in the afternoon at 1:15 p.m. and another in the evening at 6:00 p.m.

Families and friends are warmly invited to attend either or both performances to celebrate the incredible work our students have been doing. We look forward to seeing you there! Doors will open at 1pm and 5:45pm for parents to attend. Students should head to their classroom at 5:45pm to prepare for the evening performance.

Pick Up / Drop Off and Showing up ON TIME!

Our priority is the safety of all students and parents—including your children—as they arrive at/ leave school. I wanted to remind families of expected safe practices for morning drop off and afternoon pick up, as we have seen an increase in unsafe (and at times illegal) driving habits as the weather has gotten colder.

To maintain a safe and efficient drop-off process, please adhere to the following guidelines:

·         No U-Turns: U-Turns in School Zones are illegal and extremely dangerous.

·         Use the Hug and Go Areas Properly (7:45-8:05am): Pull into the zone, drop off your child, and leave promptly. Do not park, remain in your car, or wait with your child in this area, as it blocks others from safely dropping off their children.

·         Avoid the Bus Zone: Do not park or drop off students in the designated bus zone in front of the school. This area is reserved for CBE and childcare buses and must remain clear at all times.

·         Always Use Crosswalks: Crossing the road outside of marked crosswalks is unsafe and sets a poor example for students. Jaywalking creates significant safety challenges, especially as students begin navigating traffic on their own.

·         Do Not Stop in the Middle of the Road: Stopping in traffic to drop off your child disrupts the flow of vehicles and creates a hazardous situation for everyone.

·         Respect Crosswalk Visibility Rules: Do not park or stop within 5 meters of a crosswalk. This blocks the view of patrollers and pedestrians, making crossing unsafe.

·         Avoid Parking on Corners: Parking on street corners obstructs traffic flow and violates traffic regulations.

·         Staff Parking Lot is Off-Limits: The staff parking lot is reserved exclusively for CBE staff and cannot be used for drop-offs, pick ups or parking.

·         Plan Ahead: Arrive by 7:45 a.m. when supervision begins. This allows adequate time for a smooth drop-off and for your child to settle in before school starts. Arriving at 8:00 a.m. often results in rushing, tardiness, and classroom disruptions.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all of our students safe. Your support in following these guidelines is crucial to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

Grade 3 Staffing Update

We are pleased to share that we will be adding an additional teacher, Mrs. Sanregret, to our Grade 3 team. This will reduce class sizes and increase support in response to the growing complexity of student needs at this grade level.

This change also allows us to redirect some EA time to other grades where class size and complexity remain high.

We are excited about the positive impact this will have on student learning and classroom environments across our school. Thank you for your continued support as we work to create the best possible learning environment for all students.

Fee Waivers

At Beddington Heights School, we are committed to ensuring that every student can participate in all school activities, regardless of financial circumstances.

If you are having difficulty paying school fees, we offer fee waivers to assist you.

Central Fee Waiver

Central fees include lunch supervision, transportation, student supplies, and music instrument rental fees.

To apply for a central fee waiver, please submit your application through your MyCBE account. For details on eligibility and required documents, visit our website.

School Fee Waiver

School fees cover course fees, activities, and field trips.

Starting this year, you must first apply for a Central Fee Waiver to be considered for a school-based fee waiver. This application will be part of the review process for waiving school-based fees.

To begin the application process for a fee waiver, click the link below and follow the instructions for the central fee waiver. This will provide us with information about the economic or other barriers your family is facing.

Request a fee waiver

Once you receive an email confirming the completion of the central review, please contact the school office to discuss the school fees you are requesting to be waived.

We understand that affordability can be a challenge, and we are dedicated to providing every student with a high-quality education, regardless of their family’s ability to pay fees.
