Dear Beddington Heights Families,

I hope everyone has had a great week and is preparing for the colder weather ahead. I want to express my gratitude to the families who have adjusted their morning routines to prioritize student safety. While I have noticed positive improvements, significant concerns remain.

Each morning, I continue to remind multiple parents to use the crosswalk and avoid making U-turns in our school zone. These actions create unnecessary risks for our students. Please take an extra two minutes to follow safe drop-off procedures and help ensure a secure environment for everyone.

Additionally, I continue to ask that families arrive by 7:50 a.m. for drop-off. Arriving on time allows students to enter the school with their classmates, settle into their routines, and start the day regulated and ready to learn—without disruption to their own learning or that of others. Our supervisors are in place to facilitate a smooth and safe process, allowing you to use the "Hug and Go" zones efficiently.

Due to ongoing safety concerns, I have reached out to the Calgary Police Service for support. This issue is a serious one, and I appreciate your cooperation in making our school community safer for all.

I have a one additional notice to share with you this week:

7 Tips to Help You Sleep Better | Dr. Greg Wells

Many families have shared that they are struggling with their children’s sleep habits. To support you, I wanted to share this insightful 14-minute video from Dr. Greg Wells, which offers practical tips for improving sleep. While the video is geared toward adults, the strategies are just as beneficial for students.

The suggestions are simple and easy to implement, making them worth exploring. Remember, meaningful change begins with small adjustments—if we don’t change anything, we can’t expect different results. Even minor tweaks to your child’s routine can have a positive impact on their sleep hygiene and overall well-being.

I hope you find this resource helpful!

If you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office at 403-777-6610.

Take care,

Steve Ross
