Dear Beddington Heights Families,
We made it through our first weather-related challenge of the year by successfully handling the storm without a gym! I’d like to remind all families to ensure students are dressed in appropriate cold-weather clothing. With PE classes currently held outdoors, students are spending more time outside, and we only move indoors when temperatures drop below -20°C.
I have a few additional updates today:
Warm Hearts, Warm Jackets: Helping Keep Our Community Cozy!
As the chilly season approaches, we’re dedicated to supporting our school community and ensuring everyone stays warm. Thanks to organizations like Jacket Racket and Boots for Kids, we have resources to help those in need.
If you or someone you know requires assistance in acquiring a warm jacket or boots for the winter, please reach out to Rachael at rjtipper@cbe.ab.ca. Let’s come together to keep our community cozy!

Volunteers
New this year, the cost of Police Information Checks is being covered for those requiring it. Please visit this link to learn more about how to volunteer with BHS this year!
Fun Lunch | McDonalds November 21st (Deadline to order is November 16)
Our second Fun Lunch of the year will be November 21st from Tim McDonalds. You can order a Fun Lunch for your child at healthyhunger.ca. Deadline for ordering is Saturday, November 16th.
Popcorn Sales
This year, Parent Council will be selling popcorn for students every Thursday. All proceeds will support BHS families in need during the Winter Break/Christmas season.
New this year, popcorn orders will be made through Healthy Hunger, so students won’t need to bring money to school. Families can also pre-order for multiple weeks if they prefer.
To order, please visit HealthyHunger.ca. The first popcorn delivery will be on October 24th, and the ordering deadline each week is the Saturday before each Thursday.
Compound Space Off Limits During Instructional Time
While our gym is under repair, we are using the compound as our teaching space for Phys. Ed. If you're picking up your child before 2:35, we kindly ask that you wait on the sidewalk outside the compound until the bell rings. This helps us maintain a focused environment for students and avoids distractions during their classes. Thank you for your understanding.
Emergency Lunches | Brown Bagging
When students forget their lunch, we offer extra food provided by Brown Bagging for emergency situations. Please complete this survey to let us know which foods your child can have during these times and which foods you prefer they avoid.
Halloween Dance | Update
Unfortunately, we will not be able to host our annual Halloween Family Dance this year as our Parent Council was unable to secure an alternate location. We are disappointed, but we look forward to bringing the event back next year!
In place of the dance, we will be celebrating Halloween Costume Day on October 31st. Students are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes or dress in orange and black.
School Photos Are Ready | Message from Lifetouch
To order, log in to your account on mylifetouch.ca or create an account using your student's student ID number. Paper proofs will also be sent to your home in the near future.
All families can also log on and order a FREE digital Pictures2Protect Card. More about the Pictures2Protect program here.
