Dear Beddington Heights Families,

This week brought a noticeable shift in the weather, with colder temperatures here to stay. A reminder that outdoor activities, including lunch recess, soft entry, and regular recess, only move indoors when the temperature with wind-chill falls below -20°C. Please ensure children are dressed appropriately for the cold, including mittens and toques, to keep them safe and comfortable. Many PE classes, including Kindergarten, also take place outdoors, so students need to be prepared.

I have a few additional updates today:

Student Drop Off

We kindly ask all parents to remain outside the school during student drop-off times. While we appreciate your care and involvement, we encourage you to drop your children off outside and allow them to enter the school independently. This important step helps students build confidence and develop independence in a variety of settings. Thank you for your understanding and support!

Swimming | Dec. 9-12 (Grades 1-3) and Dec. 16-19 (Grades 4-6)

We’ve moved our annual swimming lessons, originally scheduled for March, to an earlier date to make the most of the time while our gym is out of service. Starting next week, you will receive field trip forms for your child’s participation. Please complete and return these forms promptly to help the Thornhill Pool staff prepare for our students.

We are grateful to our wonderful Parent Association for covering the cost of bussing for these sessions. The fee for the swimming lessons is $26.30. However, fee assistance is available through the City of Calgary, reducing the cost to $8. If you would like to access this reduced rate, please contact Mrs. Cumming at clcumming@cbe.ab.ca.

All swimming fees have been posted and can be paid through your child’s MyCBE account. Thank you for your support!
