Dear Beddington Heights Families,

A big thank you to our Parent Council for generously funding our Sound Kreations residency—it was an incredible experience for our students! I also want to thank everyone who attended today’s performance. The kids were amazing, and their energy and talent truly shone on stage!

I have two additional notices this week:

Parent Council Family Dance | May 22

Join us on May 22nd from 6–8 PM for a fun-filled evening of music, games, and community connection at our Family Dance! Come dressed in your coziest, family-friendly pajamas and get ready to make some great memories. This event is open to all BHS students and their families. Please note that all students must be accompanied by an adult.

Upcoming Casino | Message from Parent Council

We have a number of upcoming volunteer opportunities, including our biggest fundraiser, the casino. This is the major source of funding for resources and activities for students of BHS. Field trips, residency programs, supplemental classroom materials are all paid for with money from this fundraiser. No police clearance is required for the casino and anyone can volunteer (including all of your friends and family). Please spread the word to help our fundraising effort.

Thanks as always for your support of BHS programming. Please find all sign-up links below.

Volunteers

New this year, the cost of Police Information Checks is being covered for those requiring it. Please visit this link to learn more about how to volunteer with BHS this year!

Fun Lunch | The Saucy Bread Company (Deadline to order is May 17)

You can order a Fun Lunch for your child at healthyhunger.ca. This upcoming month we were able to provide nine students with a Fun Lunch who do not typically receive one due to generous donations of Beddington Heights families! Thank you for your support!

Popcorn Sales

This year, Parent Council will be selling popcorn for students every Thursday. All proceeds will support BHS families in need during the Winter Break/Christmas season. New this year, popcorn orders will be made through Healthy Hunger, so students won’t need to bring money to school. Families can also pre-order for multiple weeks if they prefer.

To order, please visit HealthyHunger.ca. The ordering deadline each week is the Saturday before each Thursday.

Nations Visions | Free Vision Screening May 20-30

Nations Visions will be on site providing free vision screening for all students whose parents provided consent to be checked. Your child will be coming home with consent forms in the near future. Please contact the office if you have any questions.  Consent and information forms are available at the office, or you can contact the school and we will have another one sent home with your child.

BHSPA Parent Engagement Night | June 4 @ 7pm

The BHS Parent Association is pleased to share that they’ve scheduled an online parent presentation for Wednesday, June 4 from 7:00–8:00 PM.

Presenter: Karen Knutson, Licensed Health & Nutrition Counselor

This 40-minute session will be followed by a Q&A, and supporting materials will be available afterward for families. Topics will include:

  1. The impact of nutrition on children’s behavior and attention during the school day
  2. Tips for supporting kids who pack their own lunches
  3. Ideas for involving kids and families in meal prep, including affordable and inclusive protein options for a variety of dietary needs

We look forward to seeing you there!
