Dear Beddington Heights Families,

We’re excited for the upcoming week and our Grades K, 2, and 5 Celebration of Learning on Thursday! There will be two performances: an afternoon show at 1:15 pm and an evening performance at 6:00 pm, with doors opening at 5:45 pm. Students are asked to be go to their classrooms at 5:45 pm to prepare for the evening performance. Families are welcome to attend either performance. We look forward to celebrating with you!

I have a few additional notices this week:

Pink Shirt Day | Wednesday February 26th

By treating others with empathy and respect, we help create a safe and inclusive community. Student’s are encouraged to wear Pink Shirts on Wednesday to elevate the message that Kindness Matters!

It’s important to recognize the difference between conflict, rudeness, meanness, and bullying. Understanding these differences helps us respond appropriately and support our students and each other. Please see the Conflict, Rude, Mean, Bullying visual for more details.

Labour Action Update

For the latest updates on the upcoming labour action scheduled for this Monday, please visit the labour action webpage.

At BHS, we already send lunch waste home to reduce school waste and give families insight into their child's eating habits. During the job action, this practice will be even more important, so we strongly encourage families to pack waste-free lunches whenever possible.

We also ask that students continue to bring a reusable water bottle to school. To maintain a clean learning environment, only water will be permitted, as sugary beverages can interfere with student learning and are prone to causing spills that are difficult to clean. If your child requires an alternative beverage for medical reasons, please reply to this message to discuss accommodations.

Ramadan

Ramadan, a significant time of prayer and reflection in the Muslim community, takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. During this time, some families may choose to have their children fast during the school day.

If your child will be fasting and would prefer an alternative space during lunchtime instead of the classroom, please let us know. We will provide a quiet, supportive space to ensure they have a comfortable and positive experience.

If you would like to arrange this for your child, please email me at saross@cbe.ab.ca, and we will coordinate accordingly

Staffing Update

We are excited to share that, through Learning Disruption Funding, Mrs. Levesconte is returning part-time until the end of the year! She will be teaching Science and Social Studies in Grade 2, allowing Mrs. MacPhee to provide additional literacy support for a variety of students in her role as Learning Leader.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office at 403-777-6610.

Take care,

Steve Ross

Principal, Beddington Heights School
