Happy Friday BHS Parents and Guardians,

It has been another fantastic week of learning at Beddington Heights School. Some of the exciting learning opportunities this past week were: grade 3’s investigating skills of different animals as they build their understanding of living things and prepare for their Zoo School adventures; grade 6’s had an interactive Human Rights museum field trip, and grade 1’s have been hard at work practicing their word work with their awesome blending boards.

Dress for the Weather and Blue Days

Today we experienced our first snow day which impacted everyone's morning and commute. A few reminders:

  • Students should have warm, outdoor clothing and boots. If your family requires assistance with winter clothing, please contact your child’s teacher or the office. We have extra boots and jackets.
  • Students are required to enter the school through their regular entrance, even on snow days. Please help your child meet their class at their designated door.
  • If the weather is below –20, we implement our Blue Day policy where the doors are opened, and students are welcomed into the school at 7:45am and do not need to wait outside. If it is still below –20 at indoor recess time, students will not go outside.
  • CBE | Adverse Weather

Alberta Literacy and Numeracy Screeners

Next week, parents of students in grade 1-5 will receive a document sharing their child’s results on the Alberta Education Literacy and Numeracy Screening Assessments. Please keep a look out for this document as it will be sent home in a sealed envelope. If you have any questions about the screeners, please contact your child’s teacher.
