We've had a great week here at BHS as we approach the end of the school year. I want to wish all fathers a Happy Father’s Day this Sunday and a Happy Eid al-Adha to those celebrating on Monday!

I have a couple additional items to highlight this week:

National Indigenous Peoples Day | June 21st

National Indigenous Peoples Day is a day to recognize and celebrate the cultures and contributions of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples of Canada. On Thursday before this day, students will spend time learning from the land in recognition of it. Additionally, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, students will have the opportunity to engage in traditional Indigenous games to celebrate and enhance our collective cultural understanding.

Staffing Updates

Assistant Principal | Danielle Godbout

In May I announced the appointment of Danielle Godbout as the new Assistant Principal of Beddington Heights School. Since this announcement, Danielle has accepted a position at Chinook Park School where her wealth of experience and skill set in French Immersion can be fully utilized.

Although we were looking forward to Danielle joining the leadership team at Beddington Heights, we would like to congratulate her on this opportunity. Moving forward, I will be interviewing for a new Assistant Principal and plan to announce the successful candidate before the end of the school year. Thank you for your patience and understanding as I work with HR through our staffing processes.

Teaching Staff | Mrs. Craig, Ms. Waqar and Mrs. Levesconte

Mrs. Craig has accepted a teaching position at Chinook Park. She has been an integral part of Beddington Heights School for the past twelve years. While we are happy for her new journey, she will be deeply missed by students, families, and staff.

Additionally, both Ms. Waqar and Mrs. Levesconte will be leaving us at the end of the school year as their temporary contracts expire. They have done amazing work with our students and will be missed by all.

Support Staff |Mrs. Azike, Mrs. Banks and Mrs. Roberts

Mrs. Azike is leaving us to move to Seattle next year, and both Mrs. Banks and Mrs. Roberts will also be moving on from Beddington Heights. All three have worked extremely hard and provided great support for our EAL and complex learners. Their loss will be felt by the school community. We wish them all the best in their next adventures!

Play Day | June 21st

On June 21st, we will start the day with a brief assembly at 8:30 AM. From 8:45 to 10:15 AM, students will participate in various outdoor activities. Afterward, we'll have our races and then end the day with a barbecue hosted by the Parent Council. If you are interested in volunteering and haven’t signed up yet, please let me know.

I want to wish everyone a fantastic weekend. If you need any assistance, feel free to reach out—I'm here to help.

Take care,

Steve Ross
