Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOTB). IDAHOTB serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, Two-Spirit, or non-binary. These challenges encompass various forms of discrimination, such as mental health struggles, unemployment, homelessness, harassment, and bullying. Tragically, many endure violence solely because of their authentic selves. We recognize this day to continue to work together to provide an environment that is welcoming, caring and safe for all our students and families.

I want to remind everyone that tomorrow is a non-instructional day meaning there is no school for students. In addition, the office will be closed as front office staff will be in training all day. If you require anything tomorrow, please email me at saross@cbe.ab.ca.

Monday is Victoria Day meaning the school will also be closed.

I have two additional items to highlight this week:

Spring Family Dance | Parent Council (Postponed to May 30th)

School council will be hosting a Spring dance (just like the Halloween one, but no costumes) May 30th in the school gym from 6-8pm. Students must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult willing to take responsibility for them to attend.

Parent Council will be collecting donations of non-perishable food for the Beddington Community Cupboard at the dance. We welcome you to bring in food donations and drop them off at the dance!

Library Books

The time has come when we begin collecting library books to ensure they are all returned prior to the end of June. Please send any outstanding library books back to the school with your child.

I want to wish everyone a fantastic long weekend. If you need any assistance, feel free to reach out—I'm here to help.

Take care,

Steve Ross

Principal, Beddington Heights School

Popcorn Sales

This is a friendly reminder that Parent Council sells popcorn weekly to support families in need during the holiday season. Last year, we raised $2000, all going to BHS families! Popcorn is sold in homerooms on Tuesday mornings and then delivered by Thursday lunch. Each bag costs $2.50. Your support makes a meaningful impact in our local community!
