I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day and want to remind families that tomorrow and Friday the school will be closed as teachers and support staff will be engaged in professional learning at their respective conventions. In addition, Monday is Family Day, so we will not have school until Tuesday.
The Beddington Heights Community Association has some fun family events this weekend that may be worth checking out!
I have a few items to highlight this week:
Bridge Club
Bridge Club will be cancelled next Wednesday. Families should have received notice from the Bridge Club regarding this change to the schedule.
New CBE Websites
All CBE schools are undergoing a change of their public facing websites. The plan is for our new websites to go live tomorrow. The new web address is a pretty easy one:
https://beddingtonheights.cbe.ab.ca/
The Principal’s Weekly Update can also be found on the school website, where families have the ability to translate it if required. We will begin including a link to this in future messages.
Student Safety at Drop Off
As we kickstart another wonderful week of learning next week, let's prioritize the safety of our students during morning drop-offs. Kindly use designated crosswalks for pedestrian safety, avoid U-turns around the school and refrain from clogging up the hug-and-go zones to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. Your cooperation in these simple measures not only fosters a secure environment but also contributes to a positive start to each school day.
Follow Your Passion Friday
There will be no Follow Your Passion time for students next Friday as we will be having the K-2 Celebration of Learning during that time. Students will be picking a new passion to explore for the next FYP date on March 1st.
Wishing everyone a fantastic extra-long weekend with your children! If you need any assistance, feel free to reach out—I'm here to help.
Take care,
Steve Ross

Black History Month
On Sunday, Feb. 25, the Central Library in partnership with the Chinook County Historical Society will be hosting a screening and discussion of the film John Ware Reclaimed by filmmaker Cheryl Foggo, which follows her quest to re-examine the mythology surrounding John Ware, the Black cowboy who settled Alberta before the turn of the 20th Century. Foggo's research uncovers who this iconic figure might have been, and what his legacy means in terms of anti-Black racism.
