Principal's Weekly Update | Oct 19, 2023
A reminder that tomorrow is a non-instructional day which means there is no school for students. Our staff is off to Blackfoot Crossing tomorrow to engage in some Indigenous ways of knowing at the Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park.
I have a few additional items to share with you this week:
Compound Student Pick-Up
For the safety of our students, especially the youngest ones, we will be placing cones next week to designate a specific area where grade 1 and 2 classes will be dismissed. Please wait for your students outside of this zone to ensure a safe and orderly release of students to their respective guardians.
Fun Lunch Housekeeping
Any orders not picked up on the day of the Fun Lunch due to student absenteeism will be held for one day, whenever possible. If they are not collected the next day, they will be disposed of. In cases where Fun Lunch falls on a week with no school on Friday, uncollected orders will be disposed of after school on Thursday. If your child is unable to attend Fun Lunch due to illness, please contact the office to make special arrangements, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Halloween | Black and Orange Day
Students are encouraged to try out their costumes on October 26th at our Hallowe'en Dance, which will take place from 6-8pm. This event is organized by our Parent Council (more details below). On Tuesday, October 31st, we invite students to wear orange and black (instead of costumes) and join us in celebrating the day through Halloween-themed learning activities!
I hope everyone has a great weekend, and if you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office at 403-777-6610.
Take care,
Steve Ross

Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone there!
Calgary Firefighters Toy Association | Annual Children’s Christmas Party
The Calgary Firefighters Toy Association is having its 55th Annual Children’s Christmas Party. The purpose of the event is to support families in our communities who, due to economic or personal circumstances, may not be able to provide an experience for their families. The event will be held on December 17th, 2023 at the Telus Convention Centre from 9am-5pm. The location is on the LRT route. Families will be able to choose the time slot they attend. Time slots will be removed once they fill up. You will be able to attend for 60-90 minutes.
If you are interested in this experience, please contact Ms. Austin by email at naaustin@cbe.ab.ca. I will then forward your email address to the Calgary Firefighter Toy Association. They will send you a link to an online application that you will need to complete and submit by November 13th. Spots do fill up quickly. If you are successful in your application, you will then receive an invitation with your time slot no later than December 10th.
